A Neglected GravePosted by Mokart (Lodz, Poland) on 24 August 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. This photo was taken at the Old Cementary in Lodz. As you can see, lots of graves are neglected since families of the departed have either forgotten about their ancestors or moved to other cities. Some of the graves you can find there look like monuments, or even like churches (Karol Scheibler's Chapel is the best example). But even though the graveyard is full of unique and beautiful monument-like graves, it's gradually becoming less and less appealing due to lack of financial help form people and city council. Some have tried to save the cementary - they set up an association and looked for organisations willing to pay for restoration of the beautiest graves, but no significant sum of money was raised. This cementary is a wonderful place, the Promised Land of photographers. However, its future is uncertain.
